COVID-19 Relief Fund for India
Dear Neighbor, Date : 5/22/2021
The unprecedented tragic resurgence of COVID-19 virus is devastating India. It has been tough couple of months for many families at Folsom Ranch - with nearly everyone feeling the impact within circle of family and friends.
India has reported more than 25 million COVID-19 cases, with half occurring in the past two months alone. That’s likely understated since majority population lives in rural areas with scarce health care facilities
The exponential surge has swamped India’s health care system, with patients dying in ambulances and parking lots outside hospitals and overwhelming the crematoriums. It has also resulted in dire shortage of vital medical equipment across the country. Families and relatives, and even hospitals, have been desperately scrambling for Oxygen cylinders, often in vain. With new variants and the emerging threat of Mucor mycosis aka “black fungus”, India is facing even severe challenges ahead. As we watch images in media, our hearts go to all families impacted and we want to do everything we can to help.
SAMASTI, a Folsom Ranch non-profit organization, is sponsoring a fund-raising drive to help those affected in India overcome the Covid-19 pandemic. SAMASTI will match dollar for dollar up to $2,500 towards this effort. All funds will be distributed to the following 80g and 501 (c)(3) organizations:
Oxygen for India – ( oxygenforindia.org ): shipping oxygen directly to Indian hospitals
PM CARES Fund – (www.pmcares.gov.in): a public charitable trust under the name of ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund)’ set up with the primary objective of dealing with emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic
We request each of you to consider donating $25 or more to SAMASTI’s “COVID-19 Relief Fund for India” before Sunday, 6th June, 2021. These contributions are tax deductible.
