This ancient tradition marks the end of winter and honors the triumph of good over evil. Celebrants throw colorful powder called gulal, eat sweets, and dance to traditional folk music.

"International Kite Festival"
on the occasion of Makara Sankranti / Thai Pongal / Uttarayan / Lohri
The symbolism of this festival is to show the awakening of the gods from their deep sleep. Through India's history, it is said that India created the tradition of kite flying due to the kings and royals, later followed by nawabs, who found the sport entertaining, and as a way to display their skills and power. Over time, as the sport became popular, it began to reach the masses. Kite flying has been a regional event in India for several years. However, the first international festival is being celebrated in Folsom Ranch this year when people from all across the globe are invited to participate and showcase their innovative kites.

Dussehra Rangoli Competition 2021
Dussehra or Dasara is one of the major Hindu festivals celebrated at the end of Navaratri every year and is observed on Oct 14 this year.
As you are aware it is celebrated in different ways in various parts of India like Dashin, Durga Puja, Bathukamma, Vijaya Dashami etc. Let's start our celebrations by providing festive look to our homes with Rangoli.
We want to make it a fun competition and it will be at your convenience (from your home) with flexible duration.

Folsom Ranch - 30 Days Fall Step Challenge
On popular demand, Samasti is back with its 30 Days Step Challenge again! Similar to the prior challenge, this is open to each and every Folsom Ranch household member. However, there is a slight change to the format for the challenge now:
This time we have 2 categories to contest. Achievers and Performers, see the flyer for more details.
The challenge starts October 11, 2020 and ends November 10, 2020. Registration deadline is 10th October, 2020.
Go on the registration link provided and enroll yourself individually. The grouping in a team will be done by Sport Committee on random basis. Team with the highest step count at the end of the 30 day challenge will win a prize. There will be a centralized dashboard where you can review your status each day and see where your team stands compared to other teams. If interested in participating, please register using the link below.

Breast Cancer Awareness Webinar
Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment. Supporters hope that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of breast cancer, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates, and that money raised for breast cancer will produce a reliable, permanent cure.

In order to keep the community members active and healthy, the Sports Committee of Samasti - Folsom Ranch is organizing a 30-Day Step Challenge for all Folsom Ranch residents!
The challenge starts July 25, 2020 and ends August 23, 2020. Registration deadline is 24th July, 2020.
Form a team of 4 - can be from your household or team up with your friends/neighbors in Folsom Ranch or if you don't have a team, we will randomly match you from the pool of people who have signed up without a team. Team with the highest step count at the end of the 30 day challenge will win. There will be a centralized dashboard where you can review your status each day and see where your team stands compared to other teams. International Yoga Day
SAMASTI presents International Yoga Day 2020 at Folsom Ranch.
COVID-19 has confined us all to homes for months, and what better opportunity would it be than the International Day of Yoga to assemble safely, meet and greet, and learn Yoga while following the social distancing guidelines from Folsom City. All levels, from beginners to experienced are welcome! Bring your children, family, and friends for a fun introduction to Yoga. Start your day with an energizing yoga practice! Every “Body” can practice yoga!
Participants are required to bring their own Yoga Mats and also kindly wear a Face Mask to the event. Water and refreshments will be provided at the event by Samasti.
